The Dutch central bank (DNB) confirmed on August 2nd that, due to “escalating geopolitical turmoil,” it has transferred 86 metric tons of gold, worth billions of dollars, from the United States and Canada to London, England, where it is currently held by the Bank of England for easier trading in a “crisis situation.”
According to the BBC, the transfer was completed between March and August. 27 metric tons of gold bars were shipped from New York and Ottawa to Zeist, Netherlands; a similar quantity and quality of gold was then transported to London without needing to be melted down and recasted. The remainder was transferred by selling gold in New York and then buying it back in London.
